Ticks are ectoparasites (external parasites), living by hematophagy on the blood of mammals, birds, and sometimes reptiles and amphibians. Ticks are vectors of a number of diseases that affect both humans and other animals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite their poor reputation among human communities, ticks may play an ecological role by ailing infirm animals and preventing overgrazing of plant resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-275\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pest.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/american-dog-thick-150x102.jpg\" alt=\"american dog thick\" width=\"150\" height=\"102\" \/>American Dog Ticks<\/strong><br \/>\nThe American dog tick gets its name from the fact that adult ticks prefer domestic dogs as hosts, and this tick species is only found in North America.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><div class=\"otw-sc-divider otw-text-left\" style=\"margin-top: 30px; margin-bottom: 30px;\"><\/div><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-276\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pest.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blacklegged-Deer-Ticks-150x102.jpg\" alt=\"Blacklegged (Deer) Ticks\" width=\"150\" height=\"102\" \/>Blacklegged (Deer) Ticks<\/strong><br \/>\nA notorious biting arachnid, the blacklegged tick is named for its dark legs, which are in contrast to its pale body.
